Gwinnett County Court Dockets
A docket is the chronological case log. It is not the same as the full case file. In Gwinnett County, a docket may show when a complaint was filed, when a warrant was issued, when bond was set, when a hearing was scheduled, when a motion was filed, when an order was entered, or when a case was disposed. The docket helps track movement through the court even when the pleadings, exhibits, or scanned orders are not open online.
Dockets also help confirm which court has the case. A felony docket belongs in Superior Court. A misdemeanor docket can belong in State Court. Smaller civil claims and preliminary criminal matters can appear in Magistrate Court. Probate estate activity appears through the probate estate path. Traffic and ordinance dockets in Recorder's Court use eCourt, not the same Odyssey path used by the main county courts.

The Gwinnett Courts case-search page is the local gateway for docket access. Use the Tyler Odyssey Portal for Superior Court, State Court, Magistrate Court, and Probate Court estate matters. Use Recorder's Court eCourt for traffic citations and county ordinance cases. Use re:SearchGA as a statewide provider route when appropriate.

- Search by case number when available, because name searches can return more than one match.
- Use party name, citation number, or date of birth only in the system that accepts those fields.
- Open the case summary and read the docket entries in date order.
- Call the court or clerk if a hearing, order, or document is missing from the public view.
Recorder's Court search fields include case number, citation number, last name, first name, and date of birth. Last name and first name fields require at least two characters when used. Date of birth searching can reduce false matches in traffic and ordinance dockets.
Gwinnett County Docket Entry Fields

Gwinnett County dockets generally turn on a few core fields: case number, court, party, event date, event type, status, hearing date, and disposition. Criminal and traffic dockets can add charge, statute, warrant number, citation number, bond, fine, and sentence data.

Gwinnett County Courts With Dockets
Gwinnett County has several docket sources because case jurisdiction is split. Superior Court is the main trial court for felony, divorce, land-title, equity, declaratory judgment, habeas, adoption, and review matters. State Court handles misdemeanors and state-court civil matters. Magistrate Court handles small civil claims, dispossessory cases, warrant applications, search warrants, preliminary hearings, and related criminal events. Gwinnett Dockets vs Case Records
A docket is often the fastest way to check case progress, but it can be too thin for legal use. The full case record may include the complaint, answer, motion, indictment, accusation, order, judgment, exhibit, sentencing sheet, or certified copy. Some documents are public but not online. Others are sealed, restricted, redacted, or available only to parties and counsel.

Federal Dockets for Gwinnett Cases
Federal cases are not Gwinnett County court dockets. Gwinnett County is in the Atlanta Division of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia. The Atlanta division includes Gwinnett, Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Fulton, Henry, Newton, and Rockdale counties. Federal civil, federal criminal, prisoner, habeas, civil rights, federal-question, and diversity cases use federal court systems.

Read Gwinnett County Dockets
Read docket entries from oldest to newest when trying to understand case history. A charge or complaint can appear early, then later entries may amend, dismiss, transfer, or dispose of the matter. In a criminal case, a docket may show arraignment, pretrial motions, plea, trial, sentencing, probation, and appeal entries. In a civil case, it may show service, answer, motion practice, hearing notices, orders, judgment, garnishment, or post-judgment activity.
Do not treat a single docket line as the whole record. A "dismissed" entry may apply to one count, one party, or the whole case depending on the surrounding entries. A "bond" entry does not mean conviction. A hearing setting is not proof that the hearing occurred. When the docket is unclear, certified copies and clerk confirmation are the more reliable path.
